In October 2016 Licence to Ceilidh went back to Malta! This time to do a week long residency in the town of St. Julian’s near Valetta!
St Julian’s Bay
St Julian’s Bay was a beautiful town right on the water and a lovely place to spend some time. The hotel we were staying at was a 5 minutes walk further inland near the heart of the night life in St. Julien’s.
Licence to Ceilidh recently appeared in both Vogue and Tatler magazine after playing for the MyTheresa and Christopher Kane parties back in December.
We were booked to play at the party at the famous Lanesborough Hotel in Hyde Park, London and the guests list included some famous faces like Laura Carmichael from Downton Abbey (who was very good a ceilidh dancing!) and Dougie Poynter from McFly, as well as many other big names from the fashion world.
This is the count down of the most interested and exciting Wedding cakes we have come across in 2015!
Number 1: The Mad Hatter Wedding Cake
This is possibly one of the most unique cakes we’ve ever seen but it fit in with the venue and theme of the wedding perfectly as the venue was a quirky house in Norfolk! very eye catching and something we’ll probably never see again! Number 2: The Winter Wedding Cake
Back in July Licence to Ceilidh also did a cheeky bit of acoustic music on ITV’s TOWIE (The Only Way Is Essex). It’s was only a very short clip of us but we got a nice photos out of it and it was a fun Sunday afternoon out!
Yesterday we played at the wedding of our very own Alexis Bennett! It was an absolutely beautiful day and so we decided what better way to end the night than with the ultimate LTC big band! So that’s what we did! A 12-piece band with additional fiddles, flute and a 3-piece horn section (sax, trumpet, trombone)! It was amazing and we’d recommend including some horns on any ceilidh in the future! It really works! Here’s a quick photo – Videos to come in the coming months!
Last night we played a beautiful wedding at Kings College Cambridge, always a lovely venue we play there quite often. The couple had the full classic wedding package: a Scottish Ceilidh, the LTC String Quartet and a DJ Disco.
Aired in May 2012, Licence to Ceilidh played on E4’s Made in Chelsea for a Reeling Party Jamie Laing was hosting. Season 3, Episode 8. It was an amazing day, a great opportunity for us to see behind the scenes of one of our favourite TV shows! …and another fun TV opportunity for the band (after doing BBC2’s Great British Menu in June 2011 & C4’s Gok Wann’s Fashion Fix in April 2010). Hopefully some more exciting stuff like this in the future for LTC!
This week we’ve played at a couple of great venues – a Sunday wedding at the rather splendid St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel and on Thursday we played for UKTV’s company away day at Plaister’s Hall. Here’s a couple shots from the venues:
In June 2011 Licence to Ceilidh played for the Great British Street Party on the finale of BBC2’s Great British Menu. We were so pleased with the show when it aired, some great shots & close-ups of the band and our live music playing for the last few minutes of the show! …and one of our classic, LTC big drum fill endings to finish off the finale programme of the series!!!
